Questions members ask us

How an ingredient works, what the research behind it really says, and how to fit it into an ordinary week. Every answer links back to the ingredient page where the citations live.

What is an adaptogen, and is that a real category?

Adaptogen is a traditional and pharmacological description rather than a regulated term. It covers plants studied for helping the body cope with load: rhodiola for perceived fatigue, ashwagandha for the evening wind-down, tulsi as the everyday cup. They are studied over weeks of steady use.

Why does the form of a mineral matter so much?

The same mineral behaves differently depending on what it is bound to. Magnesium glycinate is chosen for gentleness on the gut compared with oxide forms, and zinc is absorbed better as a bisglycinate or picolinate.

What does bioavailability mean in practice?

It is how much of what you swallow reaches the tissue that can use it. Curcumin is poorly absorbed alone, so it is paired with black pepper extract; vitamin D3 and astaxanthin absorb better with a meal containing fat.

What do Strong, Moderate, Emerging and Traditional use mean?

Strong means several human randomised trials point the same way. Moderate means human trials exist but are smaller or mixed. Emerging means early human or mechanistic evidence. Traditional use means long documented use with modern trials still thin.

Why do you link to PubMed rather than summarising?

Clekina is the distribution layer, never the source. Every claim carries a citation you can open yourself, so you can read the abstract and decide what it is worth.

Morning or evening?

Energy and focus botanicals such as rhodiola, lion's mane and maca suit the morning. Magnesium glycinate and ashwagandha suit the hour before bed. Fat-soluble nutrients go with a meal containing fat.

How long before I notice anything?

Think in seasons, not days. A fair trial of collagen, biotin or boswellia is eight to twelve weeks of steady daily use. Consistency does more than dose size.

Can I take several at once?

Usually yes, and the range is built to layer. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking prescription medication or managing a health condition, speak to your clinician before adding anything new.
