An evening ritual, ten generations old

In Kerala, ashwagandha is not a supplement. It is a quiet way of ending the day.
There is a particular hour in southern India, just after sunset, before the heat fully releases, when households prepare a warm milk steeped with ashwagandha root. It is not medicine. It is not wellness. It is simply the way the day ends.
The recipe, more or less
- One cup of warm milk (or oat milk)
- A quarter teaspoon of finely milled ashwagandha root
- A pinch of cardamom
- Honey to taste, stirred clockwise
We don't drink it because it works. We drink it because it is what we drink.
